Wise Last Man Stands World Champs 2025 – Round of 16 Set for Knockout Drama

 

The Wise Last Man Stands World Championships 2025 has reached its thrilling knockout stage, with the Round of 16 now locked in. After a week of pulsating group matches across Chester Boughton Hall, Neston CC and Port Sunlight CC, the best amateur LMS cricket teams from around the world are set to battle it out for a place in the Final at Port Sunlight Cricket Club on Sunday 31st August.

This year’s tournament has brought together 24 teams from cricketing hotbeds including Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, USA, and the UK showcasing the truly global nature of the LMS format – the world’s largest amateur T20 league.

Here’s a look at the teams that remain in contention:

 


 

Sandton Royals (South Africa) vs Westfield & The Colombian Moose (USA) - 28th August 09.00 - Chester Boughton Hall

The Royals have been clinical so far and now take on one of the US teams of the tournament – Westfield & The Colombian Moose, a side with plenty of global spirit.

Sandton Royals (South Africa)

  • World ranked no 3 team and runners up in 2024 LMS World Champs on the Gold Coast, Australia, they are undefeated in Group D with maximum points 

  • LMS Legend, Martin Van Wyk shines as both a top batter and all-rounder. Tjaart Mentz, winner of a number of PoTM, features in the bowlling Top 10 while Juandre Johnson makes Top 10 all rounders

Westfield & the Colombian Moose (USA)

  • Finished 3rd in Group E: 1 win, 16 points

  • Notable match: 45-run victory over Haydock CC Heretics (204/3 vs 159/3) highlighted their capability to deliver strong all-round performances.

  • Burhan M is among the top batters at the event — ranked 7th

Farani Taylor Stallions (England)

  • Ranked No. 1 team globally, FT Stallions achieved a perfect Group A record: dominating with 3 wins

  • Highlight: A crushing 95-run victory over “Catch Me If You Can” (196/5 vs 101/8) 

  • Top all-rounder Gurveer Singh Saini and bowler Farhan Ejaz consistently fired, powering them to the top.  Ahsan Yousaf features in the batting Top 10.

Wishtown United (India)

  • Placed third in Group B with one win (14 points) 

  • Key moment: A 36-run win against the BMC Victorians, scoring 180/7 to restrict them to 144/6

  • Notable: Gagandeep Singh Chawla in Top 10 for stumpings for the tournament, 

 


 

The Super Giants (Bangladesh) vs Royal London CC (England) - 28th August 14.00 Chester Boughton Hall

The Super Giants have brought Bangladeshi passion and flair to the tournament, energising crowds with their fearless approach. Their opponents, Royal London CC, a long standing LMS London team.

Super Giants (Bangladesh)

  • Finished Group E undefeated: 3 wins, 24 points, edging Western Swingers via games won. 

  • Notable match: a thrilling 1-run victory over Western Swingers (162/5 vs 161/4) — bowling under pressure. 

  • All-round contributions suggest a balanced squad with notable performance this week from Farid Uddin Masud who is currently in Top 10 Bowlers and Shoeb Muhammad in Top 10 Keepers.

Royal London CC (England)

  • Placed 2nd in Group B with 2 wins and 20 points; narrowly beaten by The Conquerors.

  • Memorable match: strong 6-wicket win over BMC Victorians (135/2 vs 134/8)

  • Malik Junaid Ali makes impact as a leading bowler—#3 in overall bowling points and Charan Lochan in the Top 10 Keepers

A North West derby in the global tournament. The Scouse Sloggers, face Manchester Raptors.. Expect a high-octane clash with bragging rights for the region at stake.

  • The local side has tipped through from Group C with 2 nail-biting wins.

  • A tight 5-wicket victory over Delhi Lions (138/3 chase vs 137/8) 

  • Rameez Alam sits in the Top 10 batsmen and All Rounders where Faizan Abid joins him. Syed Razi Haider Bukhari is in Top 10 keepers for the tournament

Manchester Raptors (England)

  • Came 2nd in Group D with 2 wins and 20 points, just behind Sandton Royals. 

  • Key performance: A 105-run demolishing victory over Blue Tigers UK (213/7 vs 108/8) 

  • Hashir Khan also among the top keepers, adding strength behind the stumps.

 


 

 

The Conquerors (England) vs Catch Me If You Can (Pakistan) - 28th August 09.00 - Neston CC

The Conquerors, one of the tournament favourites, face Catch Me If You Can – Pakistan’s plucky challengers. A tie that promises drama.

The Conquerors (England)

  • From Derby in the UK, runners-up from 2023 LMS World Champs in Cape Town, they are unbeaten in Group B, topping with 3 wins

  • Beat Royal London CC by 69 runs (186/4 vs 117/8) 

  • Mehmoon Tariq, Kabeer Imtiaz and others powering their bowling attackas well as sitting in the Top 10 All Rounders for the tournament along with Ethan Debono for Keeping.

Catch Me If You Can (Pakistan)

  • In the Top 20 teams in Pakistan

  • Finished 3rd in Group A with 1 win, 16 points

  • Look out for skipper Abass Raza Khan and left arm spinner, Asad Bokhari.

Western Swingers (Australia)

  • Australia’s No. 1 ranked team from Sydney, advanced from Group E with The Super Giants on games won

  • Delivered a 78-run win over Haydock CC Heretics (287/3 vs 209/0) 

  • Jake ‘The Rattlesnake’ O’Connell looking strong at the top of the Batting and All Rounder tables with Gus Sloan sitting not far behind on batting.

Brisbane Burners (Australia)

  • Solid semifinalists from Group A. Great LMS Tournament and Touring Team who have India Super Series under their belt too. Run by LMS Beaudesert franchise owner, Matt Turbill

  • A 24-run win over “Catch Me If You Can” (189/3 vs 165/7) underlined their consistency 

  • Sam Coleman all rounder, LMS Legend LMS veteran, Chris Mapstone on the top 10 bowling table and Mitch Fraser features in the Top 10 All Rounders

 


 

Masagamy (South Africa) vs Delhi Lions (India) - 28th August 14.00 - Neston CC

A true continental clash: South Africa’s Masagamy, known for aggressive batting, meet the Delhi Lions, who have grown in confidence after a strong finish in their group. Expect fireworks as these two sides bring contrasting but explosive styles to the field.

  • Global’s No. 2 ranked team, MASAGAMY won World Champs 2024 and are holders of multiple SA Champs titles. One of the most dominant teams: 3 wins, undefeated.

  • An outstanding tournament so far, with some notable crushes to their name.

  • All-round contributions = a balanced squad

Delhi Lions (India)

  • A version of the team that won India Super Series in 2024, they secured 3rd place in Group C with 2 wins, 20 points

  • Memorable match: clinched a narrow 6-wicket win over New York Thunderbolts (103/2 vs 99/8)

  • Also edged PinkDrive Buffalos in a tight finish: 2-wicket win (178/6 vs 177/3)

  • Akhil Kohar and MD Ashraful Islam among their stronger batsmen

 


 

Wolfpack (Pakistan) vs PinkDrive Buffalos (South Africa) - 28th August 16.30 Neston CC

Wolfpack have fought to reach this stage, riding on their spin-heavy attack. They face the PinkDrive Buffalos – a side who have captured the imagination both for their cricket and their support of the PinkDrive cancer awareness initiative in South Africa.

  • One of Pakistan’s Top 10 teams, hailing from the Lahore LMS leagues, Wolf Pack advanced from Group F with 2 wins.

  • Smooth 8-wicket win over Black Eagles (185/0 vs 184/3) following a strong effort

  • Umair Azam is a top all-rounder

PinkDrive Buffalos (South Africa)

  • Finished Group C with 2 wins.

  • Tight victory vs New York Thunderbolts: 132/3 chased down the target of 131/7 

  • Keeper, Justin Reynolds sitting in the Top 10 Keepers of the tournament.

 


 

The Road Ahead

The winners of these eight Round of 16 clashes will advance through the quarter-finals and semi-finals, all building towards the showpiece Final at Port Sunlight CC on Sunday 31st August.

Finals Day will be more than just cricket: with live music from Harry James, a DJ, food & drink from local favourites including Dough Bros pizza, The Best Street Food Co., Ginger Cat Coffee, Boets Biltong and Wrexham Lager, it promises to be a festival of cricket and community spirit.
