WESLEY MIDDELTON – LMS Legend

Today we look at a South African dynasty – Wesley Middelton (Player ID 2369)!

Wes has played an incredible 758 games for a wide range of teams, with 188 of them for OG team “U Must Neva >>>>Kaka”, and most recently for “We Swing Both Ways”.

Wes kicked off his LMS empire back in 2008, and has always been right up the top of the leaderboards for games, wickets and runs due to his obvious talents and passion for the game.

And now, without further ado, let us look under the hood of one of LMS’ favourite sons!

Wes has over 20K runs, but his capabilities with the bat only improve!

In the last 3 years, Wes has scored 3,955 runs at the supreme average of 55.7 and strike rate of 155 (7.8 runs an over).

* Games – 758

* Innings – 751 (bats in 99% of games)

* Runs – 21,461

* Not outs – 234 (1 every 3.2 inn)

* Average – 41.5

* Balls faced – 13,532 (or two 2,706.2 LMS overs!)

* SR – 159 runs per 100 balls (scores at 8.0 an over in 5 ball overs)

* 50s – 204 (1 every 3.7 inn)

* 100s – 1 (top score 120* off 39, also has a 99 off 30!)

Comment: Scoring 21K+ runs at 8 an over across 13 years of LMS, all with a comfortable 40+ average, is superb. That said, and as above, his recent form has been MUCH higher than that!

Everyone, except those bowling to him, will be hoping those recent numbers continue on north!

Keep it up mate. Awesome.

BOWLING – ANOTHER STRING TO THE BOW

Wes is a frontline batsman, his numbers will tell you that, but check this out:

* Overs – 1,506.3 (or 7,533 balls!)

* Wickets – 451

* Average – 23.1 runs per wicket

* Econ – 6.91 runs per over

* SR – 16.7 balls per wicket

* 5-fas & 3-fas – 1 x 5-fa, 36 x 3-fas (best bowling 5/18 off 4.0)

Comment: Simply put, these are excellent numbers, making Wes a fine all-rounder. Most frontline bowlers would kill for these numbers!

My favourite number here is the 16.7 balls per wicket. A real strike bowler.

KEEPING

* 83 catches

* 21 stumpings

* 104 dismissals

Comment: This is a consistent theme amongst these top players – they do it all!

I’m sure Wes would consider himself a casual keeper, but 100+ dismissals with the gloves is nothing to sneeze at. Awesome.

STATISTICAL SUMMARY

All together now:

* Games: 758

* Bat: 21,461 runs @ 41.5 – SR 159 [8.0], 1 x 100s, 204 x 50s

* Ball: 451 wkts @ 23.1 – Econ 6.91, SR 16.7, 1 x 5wi, 36 x 3wi

* Gloves: 83 catches + 21 stumpings

Comment: Wes has a +18.4 run gap between bat and ball, which is just incredible.

I think the best part of all of this is that his last 3 years/4K runs have come at an average of a tick under 56.

That is to say, he still has plenty of runs (and wickets, and even dismissals with the gloves!) in the tank!

Wes, you are an absolute legend through and through mate, keep on smashing.
