Congratulations to LMS Legend Nikhil Dhawan!
Nikhil is the organiser for our newly crowned Australian Champs, Western Swingers! Nikhil was part of the squad that won on the Gold Coast in October and has won multiple competitions with the 3-time LMS Sydney Champions.
Nikhil has been a great supporter of LMS since his debut in 2017 with the UNPREDICTABLES. Nikhil later entered his own sides, WWCC, Western Wolves and Artarmon Raptors before playing and filling in with sides such as Occasional Drunks, Blue Chakras, Western Sydney Rams and The Good Guys over the years.

One of the more remarkable things about our LMS Australian Champions is that the side started off as a ringers’ team. In fact, Nikhil's first game with the Western Swingers was against them back in August 2018! Nikhil joined Western Swingers the next month and hasn't looked back since. He has built a formidable and popular team with so many great LMS characters. It's a testament to Nikhil that he's been able to pull together this side from its humble beginnings as a ringers’ team to 3 times Sydney Champions and current Australian Champions.
Whilst being an excellent man manager, Nikhil is a mighty fine player in his own right with over 11,000 LMS runs at an average of over 70 and strike rate of 150+. Now into his 7th year of LMS, Nikhil has only averaged less than 50 in a calendar year once and is averaging 90 this year! Nikhil's efforts with the bat see him sitting just outside the all-time top 10 run scorers list in Sydney! Nikhil has 130+ wickets to his name at an average of 31 and economy of 6.4.
Nikhil has a long list of achievements in LMS including the 3 Sydney titles, Australian title and his team, Western Swingers, being the Globally Number 1 ranked team. Nikhil was also part of the Super Series winning side, Sydney City, at the 2020 Sydney Super Series. Nikhil is held in very high regard around the country as a great player and even better man. One of the great things about LMS is how it brings teams and players together who never would have had the opportunity to otherwise. Western Swingers overcame a brave 2nd XI from Ipswich/Beaudesert in the 2023 Australian Championships final. The 2nd XI has made multiple finals and won 2 Australian titles and have been one of the country's most competitive and successful teams we have ever produced. To see the way in which opposition captain, Martin Henderson, congratulated Nikhil and the Western Swingers was really touching after the final and shows how highly Nikhil and his team are held across the competition nationally. We can't wait to see how Nikhil and Western Swingers represent us at the 2024 World Championships!
