Neil J Smith - LMS Legend

Pete Bowman, LMS Newcastle, writes:
A story from past achievements often describes the characteristics of a legend. A story already told. Something of a myth. But this man is no myth, and his story is far from told. It is my pleasure to introduce one of LMS’ finest and latest legend, Neil J Smith.

A player, an umpire, a league manager. My mate.

He has amassed 8984 runs at 42, has a top score of 116* and best figures of 4/1. He has umpired close to 500 games and has copped the accolades and abuse that goes with standing in the middle. But still stands tall. A rock whose interest is and always has been about getting more people to play cricket.

His passion for the game is unsurpassed and his recent selection in the Philippines national squad reflects his commitment to his own game away from LMS.

Clint De Bruyn should know he's coming for him.  We won't be at all surprised to see a new level of Legend known as the "The Neil" find its way in the LMS lexicon.
