LMS STATS SCHOLAR – THE BEST FROM AROUND THE GLOBE – WEEK 4

Here is the cream of the crop for this week across 5 countries, 15 regions and 2,026 players!

Random stat: ANDY MCDOWELL (The Chapel Bar Rampant Stags, Auckland, NZ) faced the most deliveries this week in scoring 65 off 50 balls (SR 130).

TOP 5 SCORES

1. TRAVIS COMMITTIE (Zimboyz, Auckland Nth Shore, NZ) – 107 off 47 (SR 228)

2. RAYYAN AZHAR (Lahore Hawks, Lahore, PAK) – 101 off 46 (SR 220)

3. JIMMY THOMPSON (Moas, Wellington, NZ) – 95 off 37 (SR 257)

4. AQIL BUTT (Wolf Pack Lite., Lahore, PAK) – 88 off 36 (SR 244)

5. REON BURNS (Sons Of Pitches (Chch), Christchurch, NZ) – 87 off 33 (SR 264)

Comment: These absolute powerhouses flogged 478 runs off just 199 balls in 5 bats at a scoring rate of 240 runs per 100 balls / 12.0 runs per 5 ball LMS over!

My top pick: Whilst the lads who did not quite make it to 3 figures scored at even crazier rates, I must give it to TRAVIS COMMITTIE simply for the fact he top-scored and EVERYONE here scored at a 220+ SR!

TOP 5 FIGURES

1. FAHD MALIK (Shugal Mela, Lahore, PAK) – 6/16 off 4.0 (Econ 4.00)

2. SAM HARRIS (The Rats CC, Auckland, NZ) – 4/4 off 2.2 (Econ 1.67)

3. SHAUN MARSHALL (The Hunts, Melbourne, AUS) – 4/14 off 4.0 (Econ 3.50)

4. OLLIE BOSWORTH (The Muffin Stuffers, Hamilton, NZ) – 4/14 off 4.0 (Econ 3.50)

5. ABDUL REHMAN TAHIR (Batsmen & Robin B, Lahore, PAK) – 4/15 off 3.2 (Econ 4.41)

Comment: The combined forces of these warlocks saw them send down 17.4 overs / 89 balls to snare 22 wickets for just 63 runs @ 2.9 runs and 4.0 balls per wicket at the Econ of 3.54 runs per over!

My top pick: I do love a good 4/4, but I just cannot ignore FAHD MALIK’S incredible 6/16 off 4.0. As with PIETER KALIS last week, FAHD has dismissed three-quarters of an LMS team in 20 balls and for just 16 runs…

TOP 5 BAT STRIKE RATES

Note: Minimum 25 runs, unless first-ball homer!

1. PAUL BASCAND (Got the runz, Wellington, NZ) – SR 464 (51 off 11, 23.2 an over)

2. SHAUN SMITH (Got the runz, Wellington, NZ) – SR 386 (54 off 14, 19.3 an over)

3. GEORGE LEACH ($30caps, Wellington, NZ) – SR 367 (33 off 9, 18.3 an over)

4. NIGEL COLLINS (Mantonio’s All Stars, Christchurch, NZ) – SR 364 (51 off 14, 18.2 an over)

5. SUSHANT BALAJEE (Cairnsey’s X1, Wellington, NZ) – SR 357 (50 off 14, 17.9 an over)

Comment: These 5 monsters faced just 12.2 overs (62 balls) to whack 239 runs at the jaw-dropping SR of 385, which is 19.3 runs an over!

My top pick: PAUL BASCAND, he scored at 78 runs per 100 balls faster than anyone else! Shout to SHAUN SMITH, who also batted in the same innings as PAUL (105 runs off 25 balls between them at a 420 SR, nice.)

TOP 5 ECON RATES

Note: Minimum 3.0 overs bowled.

1. GAVIN DRENNAN (Deep Third Men, Central Coast, AUS) – Econ 1.33 (2/4 off 3.0)

2. CLAYTON “THE HAMMER” BRYAN (2/222 – Richies, Canberra, AUS) – Econ 1.67 (3/6 off 3.3)

3. MIKE “CHIEF” THOMPSON (Swingers Plus 2, Auckland Nth Shore, NZ) – Econ 2.25 (2/9 off 4.0)

4. TRENT HARNETT (Bays Caps Old Boys, Auckland Nth Shore, NZ) – Econ 2.25 (1/9 off 4.0)

5. WARRICK HART (Mince, Auckland, NZ) – Econ 2.25 (1/9 off 4.0)

Comment: The boys here rolled down 18.3 overs / 93 balls to concede just 37 runs, taking 9 wickets to boot! That is 1.99 runs per over and 4.1 runs per wicket!

My top pick: Whilst this is about Econ first and foremost, CLAYTON “THE HAMMER” BRYAN’S 3/6 off 18 balls is just irresistible.

TOP KEEPERS

* 4 catches:

– STEPHEN TOWSEN (Mighty Ducks, Auckland Nth Shore, NZ)

* 4 stumpings:

– DANIEL LOWE (Champagne CC, Auckland Nth Shore, NZ)

* 4 dismissals:

– RYAN STEWART (Rhodesian Warthogs, Melbourne, AUS) – 3 catches + 1 stumping

– TOBY PEACOCK (Brits Abroad, Melbourne, AUS) – 2 catches + 2 stumpings

Comment: I do reference it weekly, but these boys sent half a team packing (each) via their skills and hands. NICE!

Some absolute jewel-encrusted performances here, but I just cannot wrap my head around someone jagging 6 wickets in an 8-a-side game where you have a maximum of 20 deliveries as a bowler!

Incredible! Well done to FAHD MALIK and all of the lads who made this list!

See you next week.
