ABBAS RAZA KHAN – LMS LEGEND

Today we review the LMS career of Abbas Raza Khan, from Pakistan’s Lahore leagues who has racked up an incredible 413 matches since his debut back in 2015.

Abbas plays for several teams in the Pepsi Lahore Sunday’s league (though mainly for Lolo Popo, for whom he has played 121 matches) and is handy with both bat and ball.

Let us look at the LMS career of Mr. Abbas!

BATTING – RUNS GALORE!

Some very useful numbers here folks:

* Games – 413

* Innings – 395 (bats in 96% of games)

* Runs – 7,868

* Not outs – 97 (1 every 4.1 inn)

* Average – 26.4

* SR – 168 (or 8.4 runs per LMS over)

* 100s – 1 (best 100* off 38)

* 50s – 30

Comment: Having someone who can come in a crack the ball at 8-9 an over with such consistency is so helpful to any LMS team.

BOWLING – YEAH, NICE JASE, NICE!

* Innings – 404 (bowls in 98% of games)

* Overs – 1,403.3 (or 7,018 balls)

* Wickets – 347

* Average – 33.7

* Econ – 8.34 runs per over

* SR – 20.2 balls per wicket

* 5wi – 2 (best 5/15 off 3.2)

* 3wi – 22

Comment: Abbas has dismissed 347 players with the ball at LMS but has only been dismissed 298 times when he is batting, so a nice and comfortable positive there. Handy player folks.

ABBAS’S BEST YEAR SO FAR – 2020:

* Bat (81 inn, 25 no): 2,009 runs @ 35.9 – SR 195, 11 x 50s

* Ball (82 inn): 86 wkts @ 29.4 – Econ 8.53, 6 x 3wi

Comment: Last year was an excellent one for Khan’s LMS career, with a +6.5 run gap between bat and ball averages. As you can see, his bat SR is also up almost 30 runs per 100 balls on his career average, and this is across more than 2K runs.

STATISTICAL SUMMARY:

All together now:

* Games: 413

* Bat: 7,868 runs @ 256.4 – SR 168, 1 x 100, 30 x 50s

* Ball: 347 wkts @ 33.7 – Econ 8.34, 2 x 5wi, 22 x 3wi

A massive congratulations to Abbas for his rich and ever-improving LMS career, let us hope 2021 (and beyond!) can be even more fruitful than your superb 2020 was mate!

Taimoor Ehtisham, LMS Pakistan Franchise Owner, paid tribute:

Abbas Raza Khan grew up in Karachi, but moved to Lahore for higher education and has lived there since. He has a wife and two children. If you look at his scores with LMS, it might seem like all he does is play cricket, when in fact, he owns and runs a real estate development firm.

Abbas started playing hardball in 1995 in school.  He performed well in under-16 Karachi tournaments. Cricket took a backseat in university, but after his graduation from Lahore School of Economics in 2009, he started playing amateur cricket after forming a team with his friends.

Abbas has been playing with LMS since its launch in Pakistan in 2015. He was excited when LMS came to Pakistan since he had played the format in London before. Initially, he played with GM Rhinos, but soon switched to Cereal Killers since they were more devoted to playing cricket every weekend. Abbas feels that the LMS Premier League is the most balanced and competitive offering of LMS.

He had thought that amateur cricket with LMS would be a fun and friendly sport, but claims that people in Pakistan play it ruthlessly.

He has watched LMS Pakistan grow in the last couple of years from a handful of teams to more than 50 teams in the circuit. Overall, the experience has been amazing. He enjoyed participating in the LMS World Championship in South Africa in 2017 and captaining the Pakistan team in the World Series 2018.

Well done Abbas!
