Australia Champs

17 - 21 SEPTEMBER 2020, RUNAWAY BAY CC, GOLD COAST

TOURNAMENT INFO - EMAIL [email protected] ASAP TO SECURE YOUR TEAM'S SPOT!

DATES: Thursday 17th September to Monday 21st September 2020 at the host venue, Runaway Bay Cricket Club. All teams entering the tournament will be required to play their first match on the Thursday (i.e. no late start requests can be accommodated), with finals day taking place on Monday 21st September.

Winners of the main event will receive $10,000 AUD towards the 2021 LMS World Champs!

LOCATION: Runaway Bay Cricket Club is one of the premier clubs on the Gold Coasts with great facilities, including six great pitches, four synthetic training nets, a children's playground, and full catering and bar facilities. It is located at 2 Sports Drive in Runaway Bay, towards the north of the Gold Coast (see this map). The club pavilion will be providing food, drinks and entertainment night and day throughout the tournament, and there will be a big prize for the team investing most heavily at the clubhouse bar during the event! Check out this link for an ICC Cricket 360 piece about the great facilities at the host venue!

ACCOMMODATION: For easiest access to the matches & catering/bar facilities at the cricket club, we recommend staying closer to the grounds in either Runaway Bay, Paradise Point, Labrador or Southport. Traffic delays caused by P plate drivers in Surfers Paradise won't be allowed as an excuse for late arriving teams - from past experience we know that Jupiter's Casino tends to be the cause for any late arrivals! We will be sorting out an accommodation partner offering discounts for teams participating in the event, with details to be announced by early February.

TEAM CRITERIA: All Teams entering must have completed at least 3 LMS games in an Australian LMS competition between 19th September 2019 and 13th September 2020 - except in cases where a team does not have an ongoing LMS competition in their state or territory (e.g. Northern Territory or Tasmania). All teams entering will also only be accepted if they are considered to be an Australian-based LMS side.

All tournament squad lists (maximum 13 players) must be submitted to [email protected] by 15th September 2020.

Only players listed on your submitted team sheet will be eligible to play a full part in a game.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: The team that takes the field for each game at the tournament must include at least 6 players that have either

- played at least 3 games for THAT team between 19th September 2019 and 13th September 2020

- OR have played at least 5 career games for THAT team.

I.e. Two players in the starting team do not have to meet the above criteria as long as they are on the pre-tournament squad list (maximum of 13 named players). These two players will need to bat at numbers 6, 7 or 8, and will only be able to bowl a maximum of three overs per game.

Please note: Players need to have received stats and must be registered for the team for above to apply. If the player in question played a game but did not receive stats for that game because he was not registered then this will not count as a game for the purpose of the qualification criteria above. It is up the team organiser to ensure that all their team/players meet the tournament qualification criteria.

Also, please note that players may only play for one team during the Australia Champs. In case of injuries, a substitute fielder (not added into the original playing 8 for the fixture in question) may be used, but this substitute will not be allowed to bat, bowl or keep wicket.

Plate Competition Sub Rule: Up to two players from another team (i.e. outside of a team's initial tournament squad list) may be used by teams in the plate competition to replace players leaving the tournament early, but these players cannot bat in the top 6 or bowl more than 2 overs in each plate tournament match. Note that these players can also only play for one team in the Plate Competition.

COSTS: The Australia Champs is open to any LMS team, with team entry costing $1400 per team for non city champions (so $175 a player in a 8 man team). This cost covers the following:

- All tournament match fees (up to 7 games)

- 8 x 2020 Australia Champs fully customised & sublimated shirts (teams can pay for extra shirts when ordering using their tournament voucher at www.shop.lastmanstands.com)

- 8 x tournament caps (extra caps can be purchased at $20 per cap – note that this extra should be paid along with tournament entry fees, not via the LMS Shop).

City champions receive FREE ENTRY, but will need to pay $300 to secure their entry. However, this $300 entry fee will cover a full set of limited edition Australia Champs shirts & team caps. This cost is partly subsidised by LMS Australia, but needs to be done to ensure that champion teams have committed to entering the tournament, and that they are properly attired at each tournament, due to issues in both regards in both 2018 & 2019. Champion teams need to have paid this token entry fee to secure their spot prior to 30th June 2020.

Note that tournament entry includes all tournament costs (Fields, umpires, medals, trophies, balls - basically everything LMS) as well as team shirts and caps. Entry payments are non-refundable. Spots are allocated on a first come first served basis so email [email protected] ASAP to secure your team's spot!
