League News

2013 was yet another fantastic season with over 30 teams playing in the Manchester Last Man Stands League. The early season was marked by the University of Manchester CC Intramural Competition and victory for UMCC Leavers.

In May Last Man Stands ran a national competition based on the performance of the best player's performance in that month. Unbelievable performances by Team Manchester's Imran Mirza and Mancunian Tigers' Bilal Hussain saw them win a trip to play in an exclusive Last Man Stands Celebrity match at Lord's Cricket Ground. Ex England player and twinkle toes Darren Gough and former Australian International Ian Harvey skippered the 2 teams which appeared on Cricket AM. Click on the link to see the boys in action:

With Premier League and Division 1 at full throttle this season saw the Corporate League really taking off with LMS stalwarts, Leap 29 Recruitment and GVA Tail Enders joined by Civil Service Cowboys, BBC and Extravision amongst others!

BBC Breakfast's Mike Bushell came down in July to try out Last Man Stands at our new venue at Didsbury Playing fields. The visit was followed up with a piece on the breakfast show with Mike Gatting coming along to show the ECB's support of LMS. click on the following link:


The end of the summer saw GVA Tailenders, BBC Bouncers and Team Manchester all collecting silverware. Team Manchester as part of their prize for winning the Manchester LMS Cup won free entry into th is year's LMS World Championships in London where they were joined by Old Trafford Lions. A fantatsic  tournament performance saw Team Manchester make it all of the way through to the final Lord's where they narrowly lost to AZ Sports. Manchester can be proud of the team's performance both on and off the field.
