The Joburg Central Saturday 1 Winter league runner’s up the Rebels were back and better than ever, as they beat the newly promoted Joburg Central Saturday 2 Winter league Champions, the Royal Super Challengers (117-106). Collin Young scored 48 not out from 41 balls, the highest run score for the game but his effort could not carry the Royal Super Challengers over the winning line. Special mention to Ignus van Rooyen who scored an unbeaten 37 runs to help the Rebels achieve victory.
The Turncoats (185/3 after 20 overs) were brilliant in their opening game against the Boycotters (133/6) winning with a very big margin. Dalton Standers scored a lovely 51 not out from 30 balls whilst Greg Bailey’s inning was brilliant and superb as he posted an unbeaten  92 from 49 balls.

The Incrediballs took on the Flying Bails and won (129-130). Wayne Beer scored a magnificent unbeaten 50 runs off 43 for the Flying Bails and helped them set a defendable target. Well bowled to Alistair Main of the Incrediballs who picked up 3 wickets in 4 overs for the Incrediballs. Riaan Kruger played a wonderful batting inning for the Incrediballs scoring 50 not out from 25 balls and was beautifully supported by Brian Corrigan who contributed 41* from 32 balls for the winning team. Special mention goes to Clayton Brink and Dane Mare who both claimed 2 wickets each for the Flying Bails on the day.
The Fossils beat the Avengers (199-81). Steven and Reiner Scheepers displayed intelligent power batting in the middle. Stephen smashed an unbeaten 51 from 27 balls he had faced whilst Reiner cruised easily to 39 off 29 balls, but Juan van Rensburg’s 47 not out from 15 balls was simply fantastic.
ALL IN lost their opening game (131-133) in an evenly balanced game, to a very good FIGJAM outfit. Greg Holme was simply outstanding on the day for FIGJAM as he grabbed 3 wickets, conceding 14 runs from 4 overs

Another new team, The EXPENDABLES surprised last season’s league champions the WHACKERS, when they won (136-135). Justin Faill hit the right lengths and swung the ball and earned 3 valuable wickets from 4 overs for the EXPENDABLES. Kaylan Vishual of the WHACKERS chipped in with a master performance with the bat with a handsome contribution of an unbeaten 50 from 29 balls.
Sakkie Botha’s 40 not out from 19 balls and Roelf van der Merwe’s 60* from 40 balls for MET Y’S against PRICKLY PIRANHA LICKERS guaranteed victory for MET Y’S on their opening match.
THA THA’S TOYS lost to PIPING HOT MAN FAT (145-147). Dane Naicker had a lovely outing with the bat in the middle for he rushed to 50* from 29 balls and Mia Abdul Kudir’s contribution of 40* from 29 balls for THA  THA’S TOYS was not enough to post enough runs to stop the NEWCOMERS.  Stefan Kruger unfortunately saw himself being run out on 47 runs.

The MULTIPLE SCOREGASMS bowling was superb and restricted Mohamed Gala Essuyb and the NEWTOWN SUPER KINGS to low total. Another brilliant batting brilliance from Charles Bishop as he scored 50* from 29 balls and Jurgen Kaizer for the MULTIPLE SCOREGASMS (112) to make the chase for their team a bit manageable against the NEWTOWN SUPER KINGS (109).
The BOOZE HOUNDS had a sterling team performance to beat the APACHES (103-104). It was a game defined by good team work from both teams but all set batters at the crease did not manage to capitalise and score big runs on the day.
Mohamed Bhabha helped guide THE JOBURG AVENGERS to victory against the PWC STICK CRICKETERS with his unbeaten 50 runs from 34 balls. Ahmed Waseem and Omar Mohamed both batted exceptionally well for the PWC STICK CRICKETERS, but could not manage to score a fifty in their opening outing as they both ended up in their 40’s.
Stephen Papele smashed 50* runs from 31 balls for CAN'T REMEMBER against BIG TEST ICICLES and helped set up an emphatic win (149-51) against the NEWCOMERS. BIG TEST ICICLES had a very warm welcome as they were embraced by some of the LAST MAN STANDS legends by the form of Clint de Bruyn. He took 2 wickets from 2 overs and conceded 2 runs off his bowling on the day. Bjorn Briggs bowled an unplayable spell of balls as he conceded 4 runs from 2 overs and claimed a wicket. Nick Morgan also kept things simple and bowled a tight line taking a wicket from 2 overs and conceding 2 runs. 2 overs, 1 wicket, 6 runs were Murray Taylor’s bowling figures as CAN'T REMEMBER restricted BIG TEST ICICLES to 51 runs all out.
